Former Tamil Nadu minister, wife attacked
Former Tamil Nadu minister NKKP Raja, MLA, and his wife sustained serious injuries when they were attacked allegedly by a 10-member unidentified gang at their house at Kanjikoil near here in the wee hours of today, police said here.
Police said the gang gained entry into the house of Raja, DMK MLA representing Erode assembly constituency, armed with deadly weapons around 2am and attacked the minister and his wife Uma.
Both sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital here. Raja was handloom and textile minister for nearly a year in 2006 in the DMK ministry. However, following allegations regarding his involvement in a land grbbing case, he was removed from the ministry.
Police pickets were posted near the hospital and his houses at Selvamnagar, Kanjikoil and Kavindapady in the district, police said.
