UN chief calls for Security Council unity on Syria

UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon called on the international community and the UN Security Council on Friday to unite and take decisive action to end the conflict in Syria, saying only a political solution could end the violence.

UN to release Expert Panel report on Sri Lanka today

The United Nations said it will release today the report prepared by the Panel of Experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to advise him over Sri Lanka's accountability during the last phase of the civil war.

The United Nations says that a visit to Sri Lanka by the Panel of Experts, appointed by the UN Secretary-General to probe Sri Lanka's accountability issues during the last stages of the war, is desirable, but not essential to complete its work.

UN slams killing of Indian peacekeepers in Congo

UN Secretary-general Ban Ki- moon has offered his 'sincere condolences' to the Indian government and families of the three Indian soldiers who were killed Wednesday in an attack on the UN peacekeeping forces in Congo.
