Former LTTE spokesman to decide contesting for Sri Lanka's Northern PC in two weeks

Former spokesman of Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said that he would announce his decision to contest the Northern Provincial Council election within the next two weeks. Former LTTE spokesman Velayutham Dayanithi alias Daya Master expressed these views to local media when inquired about the reports on his candidature for the Northern Provincial Council election. Daya Master is slated to contest under the ruling party United People's Freedom Alliance. The former English teacher, who joined the LTTE, became the media spokesman of the outfit which ran a de facto state centering Kilinochchi town. The LTTE's former media spokesperson surrendered to the Sri Lanka Army on April 22, during the final stage of the war, with another prominent Tiger, George Master, in the Putumatalam area of Mullaitivu inside the No-Fire Zone. A Sri Lankan court subsequently released them on bail.
