Speaking to media, the Opposition Leader expressed willingness to enter into an agreement with the government to work together against the US sponsored resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva. Blaming the government for failing to implement the LLRC recommendations and allowing the world to call for an international investigation against the country, Wickremasinghe said there is still time to rescue the country from this situation since it will take time for the resolution to take effect even if it's adopted by the UNHRC. He suggested the government to clearly state the measures to implement the LLRC recommendations and the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and promptly hold the elections for the Northern Provincial Council. Wickremasinghe said that the Northern PC elections could even be held in June if the LLRC recommendations and the 13th Amendment to the Constitution are implemented. He has added that he would even go to Mattala, on the day of the opening of the second international airport in the country, to sign a MoU with the government in this regard.
