Accordingly, the CID has filed four counts of charges against 13 suspects including MP Silva before the Colombo Magistrates court today. The suspects were charged with murder, conspiracy, attempted murder and unlawful assembly with a common intention. Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma appearing for the plaintiff asked the court to issue warrants for the arrest of MP Silva. The MP, who sustained gunshot injuries to head in the shootout that killed the presidential adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in Kolonnawa in October 2011, is receiving treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. President Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya appearing for MP Silva told the court that according to the doctors who treat him, Silva needs at least another 18 months to fully recover.
