Left parties of Sri Lankan government trying to convince Tamil party to participate in PSC

Left parties allied to Sri Lanka's governing party are engaged in discussions with members of the main Tamil party, Tamil National Alliance (TNA), to convince the party to participate in the proposed parliamentary select committee (PSC) to find a solution to the ethnic issue.
Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) member and Senior Minister Prof. Tissa Vitharana has said that the left parties have held discussions with members of the TNA and political representatives from Jaffna. He told the media that the proposed PSC would be the only mechanism to find solutions to the long standing ethnic issue and added that the main opposition United National Party (UNP) has also agreed to participate in the PSC if the TNA took part in it. According to Prof. Vitharana, it is important that the TNA representatives participate in the PSC.
