Disappeared Sri Lankan journalists' wife hands over a petition to UN

Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of disappeared Sri Lankan journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, handed over a letter today to the United Nations office in Colombo requesting assistance to find her husband.
A group of activists held a demonstration outside the UN office before handing over the letter. The activists held placards stating that it was 1,124 days since the disappearance of the journalist, who campaigned for the common opposition candidate, former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka at the 2010 presidential election. The journalist of the Lanka-e-News website who was known for his antigovernment news and cartoons went missing without a trace on January 24, 2010, just days before the presidential election. The whereabouts of Eknaligoda, a father of two, are still unknown despite a claim by the former Attorney General and current Chief Justice Mohan Peiris that the journalist has sought asylum in a foreign country.
