Sri Lanka main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa says that the current government accepts only a few rulings by the Supreme Court and ignores the rest.
Premadasa says the government accepts the rulings that suited it. Addressing a public meeting in Katana, he has observed that it was now time for the people to take to the streets to fight to safeguard democracy and judicial independence. He has added that the government through its actions has blatantly violated the Constitution. According to Premadasa, people had the responsibility to stand against the current rule that is heading towards a dictatorship and to safeguard the Constitution.
