No relief from 2013 budget to Sri Lanka's junior state sector employees - Minister

A Sri Lankan minister says the government has failed to provide any relief to junior employees in the state sector in the 2013 budget. National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara has said that it is the junior state sector employees who are severely burdened by the rising cost of living and that they are not granted any relief in the 2013 budget. Issuing a statement, Nanayakkara has pointed out that the state sector employees should have been granted a Rs. 2,500 salary increment and a cost of living allowance. He has said that the burden shouldered by them could have been minimized to an extent if the government had granted these allowances to them.
