A Sri Lankan man was shot dead in Paris late Thursday by an unknown assailant, French police have said.
The assailant has fled the scene and the police have launched a hunt for him. The deceased is reportedly a prominent leader of the terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Paris and the murder is speculated to be due to an internal rift within the remnant terrorist organization. Sri Lanka's local Daily Mirror has identified the deceased as the leader of the Pro-LTTE Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC) in France Nadarajah Matheenthiran alias Parithy a.k.a. Reagan. Parithy belonged to LTTE's Nediyavan faction and was known to be a high ranking Tiger leader who headed the LTTE in France for many years. In October 2011 he was attacked and seriously injured by a gang of LTTE members in Paris indicating the power struggle within the LTTE diaspora in France.
