A suspect accused of killing a Presidential Advisor and a former legislator of Sri Lanka, Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, said in the court today that he intended to confess.
The suspect revealed his intention when the case was called today before Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis. The Magistrate advised the suspect to take the decision to confess after thoughtful consideration. The suspect replied to the Magistrate that he had come to the decision after considering the outcome and he was ready to make the confession. The Magistrate further remanded the suspect until October 30. Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was killed in a shootout in Mulleriyawa on local government election day, October 08, 2011. Sri Lanka governing party parliamentarian Duminda Silva who was also seriously injured in the shootout is one of the main suspects of Premachandra's killing. Silva is still receiving treatment at a Singapore Hospital for his injuries. -->
