Sri Lanka strengthens security in polling areas

Sri Lanka has taken measures to strengthen security in the three dissolved provinces where the elections are to be held in September. Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana has said the arrangements have been made to implement a special security program in the North Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Eastern Provinces from today until the end of the elections.
The police will launch mobile services in the districts of the three PCs to ensure the security of the people. A temporary police post will be established near each of the district secretariats where the nominations will be received, according to the spokesman. The Police spokesman has added that there will be special police mobile patrols operating on the final day within the district secretariats nd in other areas of these provinces.
