Private bus owners of Sri Lanka to ask for a fuel subsidy if fuel prices increased again

Private bus owners in Sri Lanka say they would ask the government for a fuel subsidy if the fuel prices are increased again. The All Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Federation says there was a likelihood of another diesel price hike. Secretary of the Federation, Anjana Priyanjith says the government would have to provide private bus owners with a diesel subsidy in such an event.
He notes that the private bus owners did not wish to increase bus fares every time fuel prices were increased, but they required some form of relief from the government. According to Priyanjith, the National Transport Commission (NTC) needs to be able to provide relief to the bus owners despite possible obstacles. The Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha recently said that there is no possibility of oil price increase in the forthcoming days.
