The President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas visited Independence Square in Colombo today (April 17) before leaving the island this afternoon following a two-day official tour.
President Abbas accompanied by the Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki and a delegation of Palestinian officials arrived in the island on Sunday.
The Palestinian leader met his Sri Lankan counterpart President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday and held discussions on further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne and Anwar al-Agha, Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives were also present on the occasion.
