No meeting between Sri Lanka Tamil party and Secretary Clinton

The United States rejected media reports that said Sri Lanka's major Tamil party, Tamil National Alliance has been invited to Washington for a meeting with the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Issuing a statement, the U.S. Embassy in Colombo said "Recent media reports incorrectly state that Secretary Clinton has invited the TNA to visit Washington.
" The statement verified that the Secretary invited Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L.Peiris to Washington on May 18 and said the U.S. welcomes that visit. "While the United States seeks to engage with all political parties in Sri Lanka, there is no visit scheduled for the TNA, either before or after that meeting," the statement assured.
