Frontline Socialist Party (FSP), the splinter group of Sri Lanka's Marxist Party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) claims that their elusive leader Premakumar Gunarathnam has been abducted by unknown persons.
Party spokesman Senadheera Gunathilaka said that
Premakumar had been abducted from the house in Kiribathgoda, north of Colombo, where he stayed alone last night. Before that, another senior cadre of the party Dimuthu Atigala had also been abducted as she was on her way home from Thalawathugoda, FSP says. FSP spokesman urged the persons who abducted Gunarathnam to safeguard their lives. The party is to hold its first convention on April 09 in Colombo. Premakumar played a key role in the JVP until his defection a few months earlier along with a group of rebel members. However, the JVP officially maintains that such a person never existed in the party.
