Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Islamabad on Friday on a three-day state visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistani President, Asif Ali Zardari
Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek and Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Shaukat Ullah received the Sri Lankan leader at Chaklala Air Base.
A formal ceremony to receive the President will be held this at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the official residence of his counterpart, when he meets President Zardari this afternoon.
The President's visit to Pakistan aims to further strengthen political, economic and defence ties between the two countries.
During his three day visit, President Rajapaksa will meet his Pakistan counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
The two sides will hold discussions for strengthening political, defense, cultural, tourism, media, economic, business and trade relations.
A number of bilateral agreements are also expected to be signed between the two sides.
