Sri Lankan minister 'horrified' by cricket team's crash to South Africa

A Sri Lankan minister said today he was 'horrified' by the national cricket team's humiliating loss to south Africa yesterday and called for a complete restructuring of the game urgently to avoid further disaster. Addressing a media briefing, government spokesman and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said
he was shocked to see Sri Lanka collapsed for their worst one-day total of 43 at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday at the first One-Day International (ODI) of the five-match series. Sri Lanka's 258-run loss to South Africa is the worst defeat in the country's ODI history. The Minister blamed the poor team spirit for the loss and urged for immediate restructuring of the game. Noting that cricket is a game with glorious uncertainties, the Minister said "seriously something has to be done immediately." "A complete restricting of the entire game is a necessity," he pointed out. "Let's hope that they will recover," the Minister added. He commended the South Africa's bowling and described it as "one of the best bowling attacks I've ever seen." Sri Lanka has already lost the Test series to South Africa 2-1. The team has not been successful at winning any Test or ODI series since their runner-up performance at the 2011 World Cup. Sri Lanka is next to face Australia and India in a tri-series tournament in Australia.
