Sri Lanka opposition leader calls for a report on party members shirked the anti- government protest

The leader of Sri Lanka main opposition United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremasinghe has called for an immediate report on the party parliamentarians and organizers who did not actively participate in the anti-government protest rally organized by the party in Hyde Park, Colombo on last Tuesday (November 29).

Wickremasinghe has called on party's General Secretary Tissa Attanayake to prepare and hand over the report before the party organizes the next in the series of protest rallies.

The UNP has planned to hold protests rallies similar to the one that was held in Hyde Park together with other opposition political parties.

Wickremasinghe has decided to continue with the protest campaign that has been launched against the government.

The UNP Leader has told Attanayake that while some party seniors have promised to bring about 2,000 people for the rally, they had only managed to bring a bus load of people.

Attanayake says that the report will be presented to Wickremasinghe next week.

The UNP held a demonstration and a rally against the government to demand the release of jailed former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and protest the government's 2012 budget.
