Sri Lanka major opposition party to hold a disciplinary inquiry against MP

Sri Lanka major opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to hold a disciplinary inquiry against the Kurunegala district MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.
Steps have been taken to appoint a disciplinary committee as well to probe the charges against the MP. He is accused of issuing statements defamatory to the party. MP Dayasiri Jayasekara contested to the position of National Organizer at the UNP working committee election held on December 19 and he was defeated by Provincial Councilor Daya Gamage. Following the election, Jayasekara told media that the election was unfair. However, party sources say that all contestants fielded observers representing themselves to monitor the election process. However, the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe who contested for the party leader position did not have an observer.
