Chief Prelates of Sri Lanka's four Buddhist chapters urge Opposition Leader to step down from party leadership

Chief Prelates of Sri Lanka's four Buddhist Nikayas (Chapters) have written a letter to the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe urging him to avoid the division of the party over leadership.
The reverend monks have proposed that Wickremasinghe needs to remain in the Opposition Leader position whilst Karu Jayasuriya takes the helm of the party. The letter is signed by the Chief Prelates of Malwathu, Asgiri chapters of Siyam Nikaya and the Chief Prelates of Ramanna ansd Amarapura Nikayas. They point out that the division of the UNP that has rendered a service to the country is not beneficial.
