The Sri Lankan government stressed today that registering websites delivering news and information on the country and its people is mandatory.

Addressing the cabinet briefing today, the Media and Information Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella said his Ministry has the full authority to take action against any website which propagates false information or indecent exposure.

The Ministry has received many complaints on websites which act in contrary to the interests of the general public and it is therefore compulsory to register all websites which provides news and information to the Sri Lankan public, the Minister said.
