Parliamentarian A.H.M. Aswar, who was chairing the parliamentary session today, ordered the Sargent-at-Arms to remove an opposition MP from the parliament.
MP Dayasiri Jayasekera was ordered to be lifted away as he was delivering a speech showing a picture of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He was alleged of making a derogatory speech.
Government MPs protested the opposition MP's speech and the Chair ordered him to be removed from House amidst the chaos.
However, the MP voluntarily walked out before the Sargent-at-Arms appeared.
The Chair ordered that Jayasekera's speech be expunged from the Hansard and suspended sitting for 10 minutes to control the situation.
