Former President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga says the younger generation should be molded with a proper education in order to save the future of the country.
Addressing a ceremony held in Horagolla to award scholarships to students who have performed well at the GCE O/Level examination, the former President has noted that education was an important component for the country's future given the low standing of politics in the country.
Making critical comments about politics, Ms. Kumaranatunga has said that politics in Sri Lanka has become a money earning business resulting in robbers and murderers entering parliament in their hundreds.
She has observed that the murderers and robbers swindle the country of its resources and ensure that every member of their families is also elected to parliament to continue with the business.
"Let's try to at least save the younger generation as it is now too late for our generation," Kumaratunga has said.
