President Mahinda Rajapaksa today promised not to reduce under any circumstances the funds allocated for the country's health sector.
Participating in an observation tour at Kandy Teaching Hospital this morning the President said the government allocated 90 billion rupees for health sector last year and It is ready to allocate more funds for the next year in the budget.
President Rajapaksa urged all parties in the health sector to extend their maximum support to enhance health facilities for the public.
The President also inspected the kidney treatment unit and the special treatment section for security forces in the Kandy Hospital.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Governor of the Central Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and the Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake accompanied the President.
