TMVP leader to meet President on Friday over search of his residence by Sri Lankan Army

The Tamil party, Tamil Peoples Liberation Tigers (TMVP) led by Sri Lanka's Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan has condemned the search carried out on the Chief Minister's office and residence and the arrest of three party members.


Chandrakanthan's office and residence were searched for weapons by the Sri Lankan Army yesterday.

The party initially said it would meet today and decide on action to be taken over the latest developments.

Meanwhile, Chandrakanthan told a press conference today that he has been invited for a discussion by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday (20).

According to Chandrakanthan, the party would make its final decision after meeting with the President.

The Police have arrested three persons under suspicion for last week's killing of a coordinating secretary to Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman.

Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Edwin Krishnananda Silva alias Pradeep Master, a local government councilor of TMVP, and two others over the killing of Rasamanikkam Madialagan, 38, of Puliyanthivu area, the coordinating officer of Minister Muralitharan on May 11.
