No beer display in Sri Lanka's Little England during spring festival

District Secretary of Nuwara Eliya D.P.G. Kumarasiri has announced that beer advertising has been banned during the spring festival in the city, one of the top tourist destinations in Sri Lanka.

The District Secretary said that beer advertisements in the city were banned under the no-liquor policy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Also no beer kiosks will be seen during the spring season in Nuwara Eliya this year.

The spring festival held annually in April in the picturesque Nuwara Eliya of central hill country is a major tourist attraction in Sri Lanka.

It is a days-long fun and fair event with plenty of activities for the visitors such as horse racing, motor racing, golf tournament, annual flower show, carnival and school band parade. Festivities are organized by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council.
