Lasith Malinga officially announces his resignation from Test format

Sri Lanka's outstanding pace bowler, Lasith Malinga today held a press conference in Colombo to officially announce his retirement from Test cricket.

He has also handed in his resignation from the Test format of the game today to the cricket selectors.

Malinga, who is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) said last week that he will retire from Test cricket because of a "long-standing degenerative" knee injury.

He will continue to be available for ODIs and Twenty20 games, he has said.
