Sri Lanka major opposition postpones appointing a national organizer

While working committee of Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) met today, appointing the party national organizer was postponed to the next meeting, party sources said.

UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake said that the national organizer will also be chosen with consensus.

The UNP working committee intended to appoint its national organizer today. MPs Ravi Karunanayaka, Mangala Samaraweera, and Dayasiri Jayasekara were vying for the post, sources said.

Meanwhile, Imitiyaz Bakeer Markar, a party vice president said he sent a letter to the party general secretary Tissa Attanayake proposing the name of UNP Monaragala district MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara for the post.
