Over 100 exporters from Sri Lanka to participate in the Kunming International Trade Fair

Rishad Bathiudeen, Sri Lankan Minister of Industry and Commerce, said over 100 exporters from Sri Lanka are expected to take part in the upcoming Kunming International Trade Fair.

The fourth South Asian trade fair featuring exhibitors from the Southwest Asia and South Asian countries will be held in Kunming, China from 5 to 10 June 2011.

China yesterday handed over the invitation to Sri Lanka to take part in the event, the Minister told media.

The Ministry of Commerce of China with the Yunnan Provincial Government has invited Minister Bathiudeen to take part in the exhibition from 6 to 10 June 2011 and the Business Forum held from 5 to 7 June 2011.

The organizers will allocate a special area for Sri Lanka in the exhibition and provide 100 free booths for Sri Lanka, Vice Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Huang Shah, has told the media.

Minister Bathiudeen was also invited to participate in the three-day business forum that coincides with the trade fair, from 5 to 7 June 2011.

Sri Lanka's export earnings from China went up 50 percent to US$ 80 million in 2010 from US$ 59 million from the previous year, according to the Minister.
