Karuna to address meet in city today

Poll fever grips the cotton city as DMK president and Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi arrives on Wednesday to address an election meeting.

The chief minister will arrive by a scheduled flight on Wednesday morning and will head straight to the Residency Hotel. After meeting party functionaries during the day, he will address a public meeting at Sivananda Colony at 6pm.

After the public meeting, the chief minister will stay back in the city on Wednesday night. The next day, he will leave for Erode from Coimbatore to campaign. About thousand police personnel will be deployed for the chief minister's visit.

Meanwhile, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa is scheduled to arrive in Coimbatore from Madurai on April 5 night by a special helicopter. She will land at a helipad near a private bungalow of a party functionary at Kalapatti, which has been spruced for her stay.

On April 6, she will leave for Ooty by helicopter to campaign. She will then fly to Pollachi to address a public meeting in the evening.

After the meeting, she will return to Coimbatore to rest. The next day, Jayalalithaa will leave for Tirupur and Erode districts. Curiously, she is not scheduled to address campaign meetings in Coimbatore.
