Hundreds of fishermen belonging to the 'Vanga kadal Meen Thozhilalar Sangam' (Bay of Bengal Fishermen Association) carried out a procession in Nagapattinam today, condemning the "incessant" attacks on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The procession started from the new bus stand and went through important streets of the town.
Later, the protestors staged a demonstration in front of the Nagapattinam head post office, urging the state and central governments to initiate "sincere" action to safeguard the fishermen from the attacks of the Lankan Navy.
