Sri Lanka President pledges to provide all facilities for education

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today pledged to provide all necessary facilities to uplift the education island wide.

Addressing a function at Wellawaya Mahinda Rajapaksa Conference Hall to distribute books, school items, and digital pianos, donated by the Muttiah Muralitharan Foundation to students, the President said investment in education is an investment in the future.


The President said he is committed to remove all barriers for education of the Sri Lankan students and his government has allocated a large sum of money for education compared to some other countries.
President Rajapaksa distributed school items for a large number of students selected by ten needy schools in the Moneragala district.
Cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge, Governor of Uva Province Nanda Matthew, Uva Province Chief Minister Shashendra Rajapaksa, and Minister Jagath Pushpakumara were also present.
