Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today invited Viyama Oshadi, the five-year old who set a record swimming 1000 meters across the Kelani River to the Temple Trees and congratulated her for her extraordinary feat
Oshadi residing in Sedawatta, Wellampitiya is a student of the Carlton pre-school, Maligawatta of which First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa is the Principal.
According to the local media reports Oshadi swam across the river starting from Kelani River bank in Sedawatta under the observation of two instructors of the Sports Medical Institute, G.A. Ranil Panditaratne and J.R.J.Udugama. Oshadhi took 14 minutes and 41 seconds to swim across the river.
