Sri Lanka Navy says the force has deployed 40 relief teams to the flood affected districts in the country to provide the necessary assistance to the people.
Navy Media Spokesperson Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya has told the media that several naval teams have been deployed to areas in Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa Districts.
The Navy has also taken steps to assign more teams in camps surrounding the flood affected areas in order to provide additional support if the flood situation worsens.
The naval teams have been assisting local authorities in operations to rescue people marooned by the floods.
