Reconciliation commission postpones its visit to Ampara

Sri Lanka's Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) has postponed its field visit to Ampara scheduled for this month due to the prevailing weather conditions
.
Ampara Government Agent (GA) has informed the LLRC the conditions are not favorable for the Commission to hold its public sessions as the floods have ravaged the district for a second time.

The LLRC media consultant Lakshman Wickremasinghe has told local media that the Commission will consider visiting Ampara once the flood situation returns to normalcy.

The Commission has already begun the preparation of the final reports on the evidence they have gathered from the public sessions it held for the past six months.

The LLRC held its first sittings on August 11, 2010. In November 2010, the President extended its mandate till May 15, 2011.
