The Sri Lankan government says that it will set up a National Drug Regulatory Commission (NDRC) by next year.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena told parliament today that the National Drug policy founded by Prof. Senaka Bibile will be implemented in 2011.
Sirisena had stated that the government would provide a value oriented health service through the drug policy. And alleviate the problem of drug shortages in government hospitals.
However, the Minister had added that the Senaka Bibile drug policy would be implemented after introducing several amendments to it.
Sirisena had also called on all parliamentarians to support the government's move, as it would not be easy to implement the drug policy.
