Their Majesties the King and Queen will arrive at the throne hall at 10.30am, when the annual Royal Guards Trooping the Colour ceremony will be performed on the lawn inside the Grand Palace.
The King will deliver his birthday speech after the royal blessing ceremony led by HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, who will read out a statement in honour of the King, followed by statements from Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and House speaker Chai Chidchob.
Their Majesties will leave the throne hall at the end of the morning royal functions. At 5pm, the Crown Prince will preside over a prayer ceremony to bless His Majesty at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
His Majesty's appearance today will bring great joy to his subjects just like his previous public appearances.
The King was admitted to Siriraj Hospital on Sept 19 last year due to fever and fatigue. He has undertaken physical rehabilitation at the hospital since.
The two latest occasions on which the King has been out in public were on Nov 21, when he came down to Siriraj pier for Loy Krathong Day, and on Nov 24, when he went on board the royal vessel Angsana to preside over the opening of Bhumibol 1 and 2 bridges and Klong Lad Pho flood gate.
The Grand Palace will be open for the public to sign a well-wishers' book from 9am to 5pm today.
Several activities will be held throughout the day by various agencies to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
Key sites for festivities include the Royal Plaza, Si Ayutthaya Road, Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue and the Siriraj Hospital compound. At 7.29pm, Mr Abhisit will preside over a candle-lit ceremony in front of the Supreme Court near Sanam Luang.
