The Sri Lankan parliament adjourned today till next Tuesday (16) after the first floor of the building was inundated with flood water due to heavy rains.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa who took a boat to enter the building for inspection convened the parliament for five minutes and adjourned the House until November 16.
Officials said the ground floor of the building which sits in a island in the Diyawanna Oya was under three-feet of water after the heaviest rains in 18 years continued since Wednesday night.
