Sri Lanka police search for three foreigners for literary fraud

Sri Lanka police is searching for three foreigners allegedly involved in a fraud related to literature.

Police has so far received 136 complaints that an unscrupulous group swindled Rs. 14,500 each from would-be translators who were reportedly recruited to translate English novels into Sinhala.
The bogus literary agents have swindled around Rs. 13 million in their ruse.

Eight persons have been arrested so far in relation to this fraud and remanded until December 01.

The victims say they were lured by promises to pay handsome royalty for translating the English novels into Sinhala.
