Sri Lanka, China sign agreement on economic and technical cooperation

Sri Lanka and China Wednesday has signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the two countries
.Special Envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, Sang Guowei called on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today at the President's House.


Special Envoy Guowei, who will be visiting Sri Lanka from November 17 to 20, is here to attend President Rajapaksa's inauguration on Friday for the second term and the launching ceremony of Hambanthota Port built by China Harbor Engineering Company.
Secretary to Finance Ministry Dr. P.B. Jayasundara signed the agreement on behalf of Sri Lanka while China's Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ms. Yang Xiuping signed for her country.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge, and the members of the Chinese delegation were present.
