Sri Lanka Minister of Youth Affairs Dullas Alahapperuma says that receiving nominations for the Youth Parliament ends tomorrow.
The Minister said that 1,934 candidates have filed nominations so far. A total of 332 MPs will be elected to the Youth Parliament to represent the 332 central youth organizations at divisional secretariat level.
The Minister further stated that five additional seats will be allocated in the youth parliament for Burghers, Malays and indigenous people.
Sri Lanka President is scheduled to open the Youth Parliament on December 12.
The Sri Lanka Youth Parliament is a youth led, youth run initiative, whose aim is to mobilize and create a network of young people to bring about positive and sustainable change to issues that affect youth and their communities in Sri Lanka. It provides skills and opportunities for youth to play a leadership role in identifying and addressing the needs of their own communities.
