Foreign dignitaries arriving in Sri Lanka for President's second term inauguration

A number of foreign dignitaries have started arriving in the island to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second term in office.

Sri Lanka Ministry of External Affairs announced that a large number of foreign dignitaries are scheduled to arrive in the island to witness the inauguration ceremony on Friday.

The foreign dignitaries include state leaders as well. Maldivian President Mohammed Nasheed and Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigme Thinle are scheduled to arrive in the island.

Special envoy to Chinese President, Sang Guowei and a ten member delegation under him has already arrived in the country to take part in the ceremony.

Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Farooq Hamid Naek will arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow with a state delegation, Ministry of External Affairs announced.

The swearing-in ceremony is to take place in Colombo on November 19 with the participation of several international state guests.
