Australian team probing sinking of certain places in Colombo city

Colombo Municipal Council Special Commissioner Omar Kamil says that a team of Australian experts are now probing the sinking of the earth surface at certain places in Colombo city.

He said that according to the findings so far, the major reason for the sinking of the earth surface of many places has been identified as the dilapidation in the ancient drainage system.
The ancient drainage system is beyond repair now although it is still in use in many parts of the city, municipal sources said.

Earth surface at several places of the Colombo city sank recently causing minor damages to property.
