43rd commemoration of D. A. Rajapaksa to be held tomorrow

The 43rd commemoration of Sri Lanka Freedom Party founder and current President's father, late D.A. Rajapaksa will be held at Tangalle in the Hambanthota district of Southern Province.

D.A. Rajapaksa is the father of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He represented Beliatta electorate of Hambanthota district in the parliament and also held the post of Deputy Speaker, in addition to being a cabinet minister.

D.A. Rajapaksa's 43rd commemoration will begin with a floral tribute to his statue in Tangalle by the President at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

A memorial lecture will be delivered and the President will grant 100 scholarships at 9 a.m. at the ceremony to be held in Tangalle Town Hall.

An all night Pirith chanting will be held in President's ancestral home in Medamulana tomorrow and an almsgiving will be held the following day.
