Two more faculties of Sri Lanka's Peradeniya University closed

Authorities have closed two more faculties of Sri Lanka's Peradeniya University were closed for students today. They were the Arts Faculty and the Agriculture Faculty.

The acting Vice Chancellor of Peradeniya University K. Premaratna told media that the decision to close the two faculties was taken since two other faculties were closed previously.
The University closed the Engineering and Science faculties previously due to student unrest.

The Vice Chancellor said the Arts and the Agriculture Faculties were closed today since there were common lectures among these faculties and it was unfair to teach some students while others were granted leave.

All students have been asked to evacuate the hostels by 4:00 p.m., the university administration announced.

Several universities in the country have cancelled classes due to student unrest in the campuses.
