Sri Lankan Parliament extends emergency, PM says Tigers are regrouping

The Sri Lankan parliament Tuesday approved the extension of emergency regulations by another one month.
The emergency regulations were passed in parliament with 118 legislators voting in favor and 19 against it. The main opposition UNP legislators, who were in the Chamber at the time, abstained from voting.
During the debate to extend the emergency, Sri Lankan Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne said the Tamil Tiger leaders in the United States and Norway are trying to review the separatist movement again.

The PM without giving details said recently police discovered suicide jackets and evidence that some former LTTE cadres are trying to regroup.

Sri Lanka police recently arrested two resettled residents of Visuamadu in Kilinochchi engaged in propaganda of the defeated LTTE.
