Sri Lankan government may reduce fuel prices

The Sri Lankan government says it is taking measures that would help reducing the fuel prices in the country considerably within the next few months.

Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha told the media today that the government is planning to purchase refined fuel from Singapore minimizing the expenditure on purchasing crude oil from oil producing countries.
Although Singapore is not an oil producing country, it is prepared to supply fuel to Sri Lanka after refining stocks imported from other countries, the Minister told media.
The Minister expects the move to considerably reduce the fuel prices in Sri Lanka.
