Sri Lanka Transport Board has planned to commence a long distance luxury service. Initially, ten buses are to be deployed for this service with hopes to expand it with people's response.
The buses have been provided free of charge for this service by Micro Company, says the Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama. The buses are locally designed and produced.
The Minister said that a part of Maharagama depot would be given to this new luxury service depot.
Initially, luxury services to Jaffna, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Kataragama will be started with two buses for each service, Sri Lanka Transport Board sources say.
