Sri Lanka's nationalist party Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) today said that more than 150,000 Sinhalese families have been displaced in the North and East due to the war.
JHU Leader Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thero has told the BBC that more than 150 Sinhalese families are stranded in the Alfred Duraiyappa Stadium and Railway Station in Jaffna, as they have not been allowed to settle in their lands.
According to the JHU, the displaced Sinhala families have necessary legal documentation to prove ownership to their lands.
"The government should not give in to illegal acts," Ven. Sobitha Thero has said.
However, Resettlement Minister Milroy Fernando has said that he was not aware of displaced Sinhalese families being stranded in Jaffna.
